Jane Addams staff meetings are so fun when Life Church comes for a visit and brings yummy treats!! Thank you again for the apple nachos!! We appreciate it!

Jane Addams students strive each week to be respectful, responsible, and safe in all areas of our school. Teachers explicitly teach with high expectations to strive for these three B's (be respectful, be responsible, be safe) through our PBIS behavior system. Each week we focus on a skill and provide lessons and opportunities to practice with our students. In our first few weeks of school, we really focused hard on expectations on the playground, in the bathroom, in the hallway, in our classroom, and our lunchroom procedures. The past two weeks our Eagle Expectations have focused on following directions without arguing and complaining and how to respond to adults when they are talking to you at school.
If you have a child at ACE, chat with them about what they have learned or would do. Our parents are training and starting back in our classrooms this week so we are excited to show them our skills of being respectful, responsible, and safe!

Miss Leloux's 3rd graders loved the chance to try out the virtual reality headsets she received from a Sioux Falls Public School Education Foundation grant a couple years ago! They are so fun to use and what a neat opportunity to get to explore the world and visit places far away! They love them!!

Mrs. Ernster's EIC 3-4 blend (Elementary Immersion Center) classroom and Miss Leloux's ACE 3 classroom are buddy classrooms this year! This mean they get together once a week to do fun games, academic learning activities, practice English skills, and make new friends! This week they did puzzles together and practiced learning each other's names! What a great experience for all and we love building relationships between the two schools in one building at Jane Addams!

Big shoutout to our parent trainers this week for working hard to get all of the other parents trained and ready for the classroom! Thank you for taking on this big task! As teachers/staff, we really appreciate the time and details you put into getting prepared/trained for the year! It helps make our classrooms/school/year run smoothly! Thank you to ALL of our volunteers who take time out of their day to be here to make this school the special place it is! We could not do as many of the fun things we get to do without your help! THANK YOU! You rock!

Kids played Addition Crossout in Family to work on their math skills! Lots of fun!

Mark your calendars for our Fall Festival that will be on October 27! More details to come!

It was Family versus Family in kickball on Friday at Elmwood Park! So fun!

Congrats to our High Flyers for this week! Way to show skills of being responsible, respectful, and safety! Our entire school is working towards a 2,500 ticket goal to earn a playground party at the end of the month! Thanks for working hard kids!

First Friday bowling was a blast at Sport Bowl!! The kids loved spending time with their classmates getting back into the swing of things for school after a long summer! So fun! Big thanks to Sport Bowl for having us back! We had a blast!

To kickoff Family time, each year we do activities outside together to build up our learning community. This year we did chalk and bubbles! Family time is a block of time we have allotted three times a week to work on social skills, social emotional learning, leadership skills, and so much more! Students are divided out that 4-5 students from each grade form a "family" with one ACE teacher. They stay with that group for the whole year! It is so fun to see the friendships formed across grade levels! We love Family time!

We are excited that Life Church is once again partnering with Jane Addams to provide opportunities throughout the year to spoil our staff with yummy food at our staff meetings and other acts of kindness to our school! Thank you for your generosity!

Each week, students can earn tickets through our PBIS behavior management system for demonstrating behavior that is responsible, respectful, and safe. Here is our first week of High Flyers! Way to go! We are proud of you!
