Happy Education Support Professionals Day!

Thanks Life Church for the goodies at our staff meeting!

Our Pizza Ranch Fundraiser on Nov. 13th was a huge success! Thank you to all that came and supported the event! We appreciate all of the students and families who also volunteered by bussing tables and wiping them down. Thanks to Karina Dachtler and family for helping organize this event where we raised $1,077 for our school! Whoohoo! Thanks to Pizza Ranch as well for hosting this event!

Four of the Sioux Falls Stampede players came to Jane Addams to read to the students! Mrs. Reavis lined up the event so they could read and have the kids ask some questions! The kids were so excited to meet them and ask them inquisitive questions! One student said he was never washing his hand again after getting to shake hands with the Stampede captain! Thank you to those players for making a positive difference in these kids' lives! Come see them play this Friday at the Denny!

Each year, the Sioux Falls School District has open nominations for the 36th Annual Dr. John W. Harris "Teacher of the Year" award. Habit 2 Kickoff happened on Monday! Habit 2 is Begin with the End in Mind! This habit teaches the kids to set goals, make a plan, and do the most important things first.

Planning Ahead! If your current 5th grader is involved in Gifted Education at their SFSD Elementary, join us tonight from 6-7pm at Patrick Henry Middle School to learn more about the Middle School Honors Program!

Our Pizza Ranch Fundraiser is on tonight from 5-8 pm!
Remember to invite everyone you can! They can eat in and we get 10% of the proceeds! Plus we get to keep all the tips that go in our buckets. Mondays are also half price games in the Fun Zone so it’s the perfect day to come out to Pizza Ranch with the family!
Please share on your Facebook and tell friends and family! Thank you to Karina Dachtler for organizing this event!

High Flyers for this short week! Way to be responsible, respectful, and safe! Way to go!

Lollipops for Lexia! 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders celebrated their hard work in Lexia with lollipops! They loved it! Lexia is a new ELA (English Language Arts) computer program 2nd-5th use this year! It's awesome!

Happy Veteran's Day! All City students made cards for veterans at the VA Hospital and veteran family members. We appreciate the service of all veterans especially those who are connected to ACE families! Thank you for all you have done to protect and serve our country!

The Science Club learned about Newton’s First Law of Motion today and applied what they learned by building a race car using an empty plastic bottle, straws, wooden skewers, bottle cap wheels, a balloon and a rubber band. They tested them, improved their designs and then raced them in the classroom. So cool!

Jane Addams students joined forces with other students in the district to "Read for the Record" last month. The book they read was "With LOTS of Love." Many students either read it in the library or in their classrooms throughout the day. Mrs. Reavis, our new librarian this year, led the charge on this fun experience! Check out her poster to get to know her more!

Our Jane Addams High Flying Eagles were well represented with great school leaders for this past week! Way to work hard!

Our busy week wrapped up with our K-5 monthly swimming trip to Embe! Smiles everywhere!

SFSD's new Canvas platform allows students and families to access school assignments and homework anytime, anywhere. When winter weather can be predicted, students and staff will take devices home to continue their learning. Are you prepared? Check out the guidance BEFORE you need it!

The annual Halloween teacher costume reveal is always a big hit and so much fun! The kids are ecstatic to figure out what they will be and see how they make their grand entrance! This year was Barbie themed and the teachers rode in from a pink limousine, Barbie corvette, Barbie Jeep, and Ken drove a pick-up! Big thank you to Elite Limousine for donating the time/driver for our reveal and to Mary Pat Norgaard for helping with arrangements! It was so kind of them to do that! THANK YOU! Thanks to Mrs. Rausis, Miss Joffer's family, and Mr. Borges for bringing their cars as well! We love surprising the kids and it is such a fun tradition through the years!

Fall parties were a huge hit in all of the ACE classrooms! Thank you to all of the parents who helped organize and volunteered for these events! The costume parade was also a fun success in the gym! We end the busy day in Family with the Halloween Sing-Along! We love these traditions!

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders had a visit on November 2 from some local VFW members to share about their lives and the importance of knowing how to treat and fold the flag properly. Students were selected to practice folding the flag. Each child received a bag of patriotic memorabilia as well. We want to thank these ladies and gentleman for their service and time.
Reminder: We do not have school on November 10th in honor of Veteran's Day!
