The Cavaliers will face the Pierre Governors in the first round of the SDHSAA State Volleyball Tournament on Thursday. School will be dismissed at 12:30pm for students and staff to attend. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.sdhsaa.com/ticket-information-volleyball/

Due to forecasted winter weather that could make travel dangerous, two semi-final volleyball matches involving Sioux Falls Public Schools and West River schools will be played on Wednesday, Nov 9, 2022. The SDHSAA has approved this one-time schedule change for the safety of athletes, coaches, and fans traveling across the state. The games to be played in the eastern half of the state remain scheduled for Thursday. Please check with your schools/coaches for any additional information.

Join us Saturday for dinner and a show! The 2nd annual JHS Band Chicken Dinner will be held in the JHS Commons at 5:30. Dinner tickets are $15 and will be available through the JHS Band office until Thursday. The Indoor show will start at 7pm. You won't want to miss this event!


Don't forget, parent-teacher conferences will be held Monday (JHS Commons) and Tuesday (Virtual) from 4-7:30pm. There will also be informational meetings Monday night for the Build Dakota Scholarship for SD Technical Colleges at 5:30pm, and FASFA/Financial Aid at 6pm.

Attention Junior and Senior students and parents! During parent teacher conferences on Monday October, 24 there will be a presentation about post-secondary school financial aid. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about FAFSA and other financial aid opportunities.

Yesterday, the JHS Library was filled with 225 students committed to building new friendships during the first gathering this year of Best Buddies. Best Buddies is an organization that helps to build friendships and promote the power of inclusion with students of all abilities!


Multi-faceted artist, Dr. Charles Barrett visited JHS on Wednesday. Dr. Barrett is a psychologist, teacher, writer, musician who thinks deeply about the issues facing people. During his visit, he was able to share an inspiring message about the importance of education.





Students taking Global Issues and English II as part of Jefferson's Project Based Learning Academy have been writing children's books about issues in our world. On Wednesday, they were able to present their stories to preschoolers.





Our second ever King and Queen were crowned on Monday night. Congratulations to King Zackary Diaz, and Queen Aniya Butler! Thank you to our entire court for representing Jefferson during Homecoming Week.


Yesterday, General Foods teacher, Suzy Ries, received the 2022 Creative Solutions in Education Grant from Architecture Incorporated! Mrs. Ries received $2,952 to allow Jefferson students to grow, harvest, utilize, and share produce grown in classroom hydroponic gardens.
